Objektbeschreibung:

NGC 2362 ist ein heller und konzentrierter offener Sternhaufen im Sternbild Großer Hund (Canis Major). Er beinhaltet etwa 60 Sterne und wird nach Trumpler der Klasse I 3 p zugeordnet. Die Entfernung zur Sonne beträgt etwa 5.000 Lichtjahre.

Der hellste Stern ist Zentrum des Haufens ist Tau Canis Majoris, weshalb er manchmal auch als dar Tau Canis Majoris Cluster bezeichnet wird. Das Alter der Sterne wird auf nur wenige Millionen Jahre geschätzt. Entdeckt wurde NGC 2362 vor um das Jahr 1654 von Giovanni Battista Hodierna entdeckt. Wiederentdeckt wurde das Objekt am 4. Object description

NGC 2362 is a bright and concentrated open star cluster in the constellation of the Great Dog (Canis Major). It contains about 60 stars and is assigned to class I 3 p according to Trumpler. The distance to the Sun is about 5,000 light-years.

The brightest star is center of the cluster is Tau Canis Majoris, which is why it is sometimes called dar Tau Canis Majoris Cluster. The age of the stars is estimated to be only a few million years. NGC 2362 was discovered around 1654 by Giovanni Battista Hodierna. It was rediscovered by William Herschel on March 4, 1783. A high resolution image of NGC 2362 we show here
