Landsberg domes
- Moon age 10.6 days (74
%)
Directly north of Landsberg D
(10 km) are three large but low domes, La 1 to 3. Their diameters are 20, 25
and 19 kilometers with a height of 120, 80 and 120 meters. All three domes have
a striking oval shape, La 1 and La 2 show rilles (not visible on our
image).
All three domes are probably intrusive and in their
morphological structure they are very similar to the Valentine and the Laplace
domes. |

Putativer domecluster
Euklides - Moon
age 10.6 days (75 %)
Montes
Riphaeus in Mare Cognitum is a strange mountain range which also shows signs of
volcanism. Directly to the east, beside the crater Euclid (12 km), there is a
brighter area with a group of dome-like structures with a very steep flank
angle.
We would classify them as putatively effusive domes, similar to
the steep domes Liebig 1 and Yangel 1 even when they are not so high. Their
diameters are approximately 1.5 to 2 kilometers. |

Kipuka Darney Chi -
Megadome Agartharchides and Putative domecluster Euklides -
Moon age 10.6 days (75
%)
Darney Chi is a striking
example of a lunar kipuka. By definition a lunar kipuka is an upwarp consisting
of old highland material that has not been flooded by lava. So in fact no
volcanic strukture.
On the top of the image you can see the megadome
Agatharchides and on the bottom the putative domecluster Euclid. The image
resolution is around 1000 meters per pixel. |

Landsberg and Putative domecluster Euklides -
Moon age 10.6 days (75
%)
In this image the three
Landsberg domes can be seen again. Furthermore, a putative pyroclastic deposit
within the Montes Riphaeus is marked with a "2".
North of the mountain range
is a smaller putative Plateau. It clearly stands out from the surrounding lava
and is assigned to the crater Darney (outside the image). |
