NGC 2244 - The Heart of the Rosette Nebula
NGC 2244 - ist ein sehr junger offener Sternhaufen. Er bildet das Zentrum des Rosettennebels und wird nach Trumpler der Klasse II 3 p zugeordnet. Er beinhaltet um die 100 Sterne und ist etwa 5.000 bis 6.000 Lichtjahre vom Sonnensystem entfernt. Teile des Rosettennebels haben ihre eigenen NGC Nummer, so etwa NGC 2237, 2238 und 2248.
Am Beispiel des Rosettennebels wird besonders deutlich, wie die "stürmischen" Sternenwinde der energiereichen Sterne des Sternhaufens die Nebelmassen nach außen blasen und so regelrecht eine dunkle, materiearme Höhle geschaffen haben.
Object description
NGC 2244 - is a very young open star cluster. It forms the center of the Rosette Nebula and is classified as Class II 3 p according to Trumpler. It contains about 100 stars and is approximately 5,000 to 6,000 light-years away from the solar system. Parts of the Rosette Nebula have their own NGC numbers, such as NGC 2237, 2238, and 2248.
The Rosette Nebula is a particularly clear example of how the "turbulent" stellar winds from the high-energy stars in the cluster blow the nebular material outward, effectively creating a dark, matter-poor cavity.
