Objektbeschreibung:

Collinder 232 - ist ein weiterer heller Sternhaufen der Carina OB1 Sternassoziation im Sagittarius-Arm der Milchstraße. Das hellste Mitglied im Sternhaufen ist HD 93 250, ein extrem heißer blauer Doppelstern und die hellste Röntgenquelle im Carina Nebel.

Aufgrund von Alter der Sterne und ihrer Entfernung zum Sonnensystem scheinen sich die Sterne der offenen Sternhaufen im Zentrum des Carina Nebels - Trumpler 14, 15, 16 und Collinder 228/232 - in einer einzigen Sternentstehungswelle gebildet zu haben.

Object description

Collinder 232 - is another bright star cluster in the Carina OB1 star association in the Sagittarius Arm of the Milky Way. The brightest member of the cluster is HD 93 250, an extremely hot blue binary star and the brightest X-ray source in the Carina Nebula.

Based on the stars' ages and their distance from the solar system, the stars in the open clusters at the center of the Carina Nebula-Trumpler 14, 15, 16, and Collinder 228/232-appear to have formed during a single star-formation wave.
