NGC 2244 - open star cluster in the center of the Rosette Nebula
NGC 2244 - unser Bild zeigt eine hoch aufgelöste Ansicht des offene Sternhaufen NGC 2244. Er steht im Zentrum des Rosettennebels. Er enthält ungefähr ein Dutzend Sterne vom Typ O, superheiße Sterne, die große Mengen an Strahlung und Sternwinden erzeugen. Unser Bild zeigt deutlich, dass diese Sterne bereits einen Großteil der Wasserstoffwolken im Zentrum "verdampft" haben.
Das Alter der Sterne wird auf nur etwa 5 Millionen Jahre geschätzt. Er beinhaltet etwa 100 Sterne die nach Trumpler dem Typ II 3 r n zugeordnet wird. Seine Entfernung zum Sonnensystem beträgt ungefähr 5.200 Lichtjahre. Der gelbe Stern ist 12 Monocerotis ist ein Riesenstern des Spektraltyps K. Es ist vermutlich ein Vordergrundstern und gehört nicht zu NGC 2244.
Object description
NGC 2244 - our image shows a high resolution view of the open star cluster NGC 2244. it is located in the center of the Rosette Nebula. It contains about a dozen O-type stars, super-hot stars that produce large amounts of radiation and stellar winds. Our image clearly shows that these stars have already "evaporated" much of the hydrogen clouds in the center.
The age of the stars is estimated to be only about 5 million years. It contains about 100 stars which are assigned to type II 3 r n according to Trumpler. Its distance to the solar system is about 5,200 light-years. The yellow star is 12 Monocerotis is a giant star of spectral type K. It is probably a foreground star and does not belong to NGC 2244. .
