NGC 2244 und der Rosettennebel - unser Bild zeigt den Zentralbereich des Rosettennebels mit dem sehr jungen offenen Sternhaufen, der als NGC 2244 klassifiziert ist. Die hellsten Partien des diffusen Emissionsnebel haben die Katalogbezeichnungen NGC 2238, 3239 und NGC 2246. Die Ultraviolettstrahlung der heißen jungen Sterne des Sternhaufens regen das Wasserstoffgas zum Leuchten. Die Entfernung zurm Sonnensystem beträgt etwa 5.000 Lichtjahre
Object description
NGC 224 and the Rosette Nebula - Our image shows the central region of the Rosette Nebula, which contains a very young open star cluster classified as NGC 2244. The brightest regions of the diffuse emission nebula are cataloged as NGC 2238, 3239, and NGC 2246. The ultraviolet radiation from the hot, young stars in the cluster causes the hydrogen gas to glow. The distance to the solar system is about 5,000 light-years.
