Objektbeschreibung:

NGC 4169 - ist die hellste von 4 Galaxien im Sternbild Haar der Berenice. Aufgrund der auffälligen Anordnung der Galaxien trägt die Gruppe auch populären Namen "The Box". Katalogisiert ist die Gruppe, bestehend aus NGC 4169, NGC 4173, NGC 4174 und NGC 4175 als Hickson 61. NGC 4169, NGC 4173 und NGC 4174 sind etwa 170 Millionen Lichtjahre von unserer Galaxie entfernt und scheinen sich physisch nahe zu stehen. Entdeckt wurden die vier Galaxien am 11. April 1785 von Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel.

NGC 4173 - nach Recherchern im Internet soll NGC 4173 nur etwa 50 Millionen Lichtjahre entfernt sein. Nach unserem Bild scheint aber die Galaxie mit NGC 4175 in Wechselwirkung zu stehen. NGC 4173 zeigt eine deutlich blaue Färbung lässt auf heftige Sternentstehung schließen. Und die Scheibe von NGC 4175 ist "verbogen", eine Struktur die auch viele Spiralgalaxien zeigen, die in Interaktion mit anderen Galaxien stehen (siehe die Zusatzbilder). Wir gehen deshalb davon aus, dass es sich bei der Entfernung von NGC 4173 um einen Messfehler handelt und alle 4 Galaxie eine physische Gruppe bilden Im linken Bildbereich überlagern sich 2 sehr weit entfernte Galaxienhaufen Zwicky 4965 und Arp 1495, erkennbar an der gelblichen Farbe der Objekte.

Object description

NGC 4169 - is the brightest of four galaxies in the constellation Berenice's Hair. Because of the striking arrangement of the galaxies, the group is also popularly known as "The Box." The group, consisting of NGC 4169, NGC 4173, NGC 4174, and NGC 4175, is cataloged as Hickson 61. NGC 4169, NGC 4173, and NGC 4174 are about 170 million light-years away from our galaxy and appear to be physically close to one another. The four galaxies were discovered on April 11, 1785, by Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel.

NGC 4173 - According to online research, NGC 4173 is said to be only about 50 million light-years away. However, based on our image, the galaxy appears to be interacting with NGC 4175. NGC 4173 exhibits a distinctly blue color, suggesting intense star formation. And the disk of NGC 4175 is "warped," a structure also seen in many spiral galaxies that are interacting with other galaxies (see the additional images). We therefore assume that the distance measurement for NGC 4173 is an error and that all four galaxies form a physical group. In the left part of the image, two very distant galaxy clusters - Zwicky 4965 and Arp 1495 - overlap, recognizable by the yellowish color of the objects.
