NGC 3199 - a Wolf-Rayet nebula in the constellation Carina
NGC 3199 - Unser Bild zeigt einen der seltenen Wolf-Rayet Nebel im Sternbild Carina, der auch den populären Namen Sichernebel genannt wird. Es ist eine bogenförmige Schockfront um den zentralen Wolf-Rayet Stern HD 89 358 (WR 18) und ist etwa 11.000 Lichtjahre vom Sonnensystem entfernt. Wolf-Rayet Sterne sind außergewöhnlich heiß, massereich und erzeugen unglaublich starke Sternwinde und Gasauswürfe, die in das umgebende interstellare Medium verdichten und komprimieren. Weitere Beispiele von Wolf-Rayet Nebel sind NGC 6164/65 und NGC 2359 (Thors Helm) von denen wir hier und hier Bilder zeigen. NGC 3199 wurde im Jahr 1826 von James Dunlop entdeckt. Object description
NGC 3199 - Our image shows one of the rare Wolf-Rayet nebulae in the constellation Carina, also called the popular name Sichernebel. It is an arc-shaped shock front around the central Wolf-Rayet star HD 89 358 (WR 18) and is about 11,000 light-years from the solar system. Wolf-Rayet stars are exceptionally hot, massive, and produce incredibly strong stellar winds and gas ejections that compress and compress into the surrounding interstellar medium.
