A widefield mosaic of the Corona Australis molecular cloud
Corona Australis Molekühlwolke - Unser Bild zeigt eine Mosaik Weitwinkelansicht, bestehend aus 2 Segmenten, der Corona Australis Sternentstehungsregion im Sternbild der südlichen krone. dazugehörige Dunkelnebel, welcher das Rohmaterial für die Sternentstehung beinhaltet, ist eine der dichtesten Regionen am ganzen Himmel. Das Licht von Hintergrundsternen wird hier im visuellen Spektralbereich extrem abgeschwächt und ist der Grund dafür, dass Teile der Wolke als absolut sternfrei erscheinen.
Object description
Corona Australis Molecular Cloud - Our image shows a mosaic wide angle view, consisting of 2 segments, of the Corona Australis star forming region in the constellation of the southern crown. associated dark nebula, which contains the raw material for star formation, is one of the densest regions in the whole sky. The light from background stars is extremely attenuated here in the visual spectral range and is the reason why parts of the cloud appear to be absolutely star-free.
