The following images were
taken on 21 March - shortly before
Saturn's
occultation - around 01:00 UT. They were taken from a series of comparisons
between a Baader UV/IR blocking filter and the Baader IR pass filter. The moon
phase was decreasing, 19.7 days with an illumination of 81.2 %.
Image
data of all images: Celestron SkyRis camera 445 M + Baader IR pass filter on
Onjala C14 focal. Stacking 144/1.200 frames each and wavelet filtering with
AviStack 1.8. Finishing with Adobe Photoshop CS 2. |

The picture on the right shows the large floor fractured crater
Posidonius in direct comparison with the UV/IR blocking filter and the IR
Passfilter of the company Baader. The IR passport filter calms clearly the
Seeing conditions, and shows significantly sharper final
images.

around 01:00 UT. They are part of a series of comparisons between a Baader
UV/IR cut and the Baader IR-pass filter. The phase of the moon was waning, 19.7
days with an illumination of 81.2%.

at primary focus. Stacking 144 of 1.200 frames and wavelet filtering with
AviStack 1.8. Final processing was done with Adobe PhotoShop CS2. The picture
on the right shows a direct comparison of the floor fractured crater
Posidonius, once with the UV/IR cut and once with the IR-pass filter. The
IR-pass filter considerably calms down the seeing conditions and delivers much
sharper final pictures. All following pictures were taken with the IR-pass
