Onjala Observatory
   German      Images        Imprint

Dear Guests of the Onjala Observatory

We hope that you had an exiting star gazing at our lodge and you could enjoy the amazing Namibian starry sky. After having admired the vast firmament we are often asked by our visitors for the possibility to get some images of the observed astronomical objects.

Due to this reason we are presenting here a collection of some coloured images of astronomical objects, which you may have observed - depending on the season you enjoyed the star gazing. All images were taken with the Onjala telescopes.

The image files are in such a high resolution/quality, that you can produce photographic prints in size of maximum 30 x 40 centimeters without any loss in image quality (just click the thumbnail images to load the high resolution pictures).

The use of the images for private purposes is free. Any commercial use of the images is strictly forbidden and only permitted by the written permission of Hofmann/Paech or the management of Onjala lodge.
If you plan to use the images on your own homepage or in any social network we kindly ask for a copyright remark (i.e. Hofmann/Paech - Onjala Observatory).

If you want to know more about the Onjala Observatory, just follow this link. Detailed image descriptions can be downloaded as a pdf-file.

The constellation Southern Cross and the Coal Sack

For almost all travelers coming to Namibia from Europe, the Southern Cross is probably THE constellation that fascinates most in a dark sky. We therefore offer you a high-resolution mosaic, consisting of 20 individual segments with a total exposure time of 20 hours, for download. In the highest resolution, the image can be printed as a poster in the format 50 x 60 cm.
